Sunpor Kunststoff GmbH started production in 1988. The company currently employs 185 people. Sunpor has a market share of approximately 15 per cent of the European market, producing almost 200 000 tonnes of EPS in 2018. The product is used primarily as a raw material in the production of insulation panels. Other end-uses include insulating and cushioning packaging.

Major investments and strong growth

Over the last seven years the company has increased its production capacity from 100 000 tonnes in 2008 to 230 000 tonnes in 2018. Total investment in the period exceeds NOK 1.2 billion.

Technological edge

The source of the company's strong growth is the in-house development of a new generation of EPS raw material, LAMBDAPOR®, what is termed "grey" EPS, which as a result of special additives and its manufacturing processes provides up to 25 per cent better insulation properties compared with traditional "white" EPS. Present production capacity of LAMBDAPOR® is 130 000 tonnes. LAMBDAPOR® is produced using a patented process.
